PHAT Spice blog

Hello and welcome to the official PHAT Spice blog.

The PHAT (Pretty Hot & Tasty) Spice blend was a concept that Susan and I came up with together. The flavors included in the mixture are a blend of Indonesian and Pakistani origin. We originally passed this mixture out to our friends and family as a wedding gift. The feedback was tremendous. We would love to hear more and find out just how folks are using the mixture.

So, please post your comments, stories, and recipes around your use of the PHAT Spice blend.

Happy cooking, eating, and living!

My many uses of PHAT Spice

Since the debut of PHAT Spice on October 2nd, 2010 I've enjoyed using it in several ways.

Here are just some of the ways to use it:

-- As a spice/dry rub on meat, poultry, or fish.

rub into meat and set aside in fridge for 30 minutes to a few hours prior to cooking

-- As part of a marinade

Simply add olive oil and phat spice to taste, brush over veggies or meat  and set aside prior to cooking

-- As a base for curries

Fry up some onions until golden brown, add in some fresh garlic, chopped tomatoes, and PHAT Spice saute for a bit and you have your curry base. Add in your choice of meat or veggie to complete the dish.

-- Sprinkled on salads, baked potatoes, french fries, or any other dish to add flavor and heat

-- Also to enhance a sauce, gravy, or breading mixture
